The rear stud wall and floor framing for the kitchen area should be replaced.
1. Install temporary shoring to maintain a safe working environment. Use (2) 2x12 diagonal
braces at 4 foot spacing, notched to support second floor framing above kitchen.
2. Remove and replace kitchen cabinets and countertops.
3. Remove and replace existing first floor rear stud wall from the second floor framing down to the foundation wall. This includes a door, a window, exterior and interior finishes, and insulation.
5. Form and pour a concrete threshold at the existing rear door.
6. Remove and replace kitchen floor (floor covering, sheathing, and framing). Install new center PT 2x6 knee wall on an 8 inch thick by 16 inch wide strip footing. Install new PT 2x8 ledgers to the left and right masonry walls with (2) 1/4 x 4 Tapcon screws at 16 inch spacing. Install new 2x8 floor joists at 16” spacing.
