As part of our maintenance contract, GSC-035 dated March 1, 2025, with the School District of Philadelphia, we will be replacing existing light fixtures on a one for one basis as per direction issued by the School District. This shall be in accordance with the following estimated quantities:
150 - 1 X 4 Surface mount / pedestal fixtures
100 - 1 X 8 Surface mount / pedestal fixtures
600 - 2 X 4 Flat panel lay-in fixtures
50 - 1 X 4 Vapor / vandal light fixtures (bathrooms)
75 - EXIT signs
32 - retro-fit GYM lights to led corn cobbs
8 - Auditorium lights
10 - 2 X 2 surface mount fixtures
The light fixtures will be provided by the School District of Philadelphia.
Installation of the replacement light fixtures shall be as per the School District of Philadelphia's direction in accordance with the maintenance contract, GSC-035 dated March 1, 2025.
We are seeking an electrical permit even though it is not required as per Title 4-A-301.2.3.
A-301.2.3 Electrical permits: An electrical permit shall not be required for the following activities:
1. Minor repair and maintenance work including, the replacement of lamps, circuit breakers and fuses; repairing or replacement of switches, lamp sockets, ballasts, drop cords, receptacles, bulbs; taping bare joints; and replacing lighting fixtures to existing connections.
Again, this is for the maintenance replacement of existing light fixtures.

Install 4” PVC over 15KV CABLE.
2. Secure and run the cable up the PECO pole
3. Mount a 10ft section of steel U guard and base
4. Check to see if the ground field was done properly around the PECO Vault (trenching done by others) determine if ground rods and cable are needed
5. Core two holes into the PECO Vault (1 hole for grounding and the other for the Meter socket and CT cabinet)
6. Install rigid pipe, for post, cement in the ground and mount the meter socket and CT
7. Run 1 1/2" conduit to the Meter socket and CT cabinet , pull wire from the Volt
8. Mount and wire up both the CT’s and the meter socket
9. Check all wiring inside the Vault and make sure everything has been pulled
10. PECO XFMR has to be lifted and turned around and put over the Vault opening (as per Tom, this work will be done by others)
11. Make up the High Voltage Stress cones for Line side of XFMR and mount
12. Mount and secure lugs for the load side of XFMR
13. Prepare cable ends and land the load side of the XFMR
14. Ground the XFMR
15. Spend a day or two checking the two 1200 amp disconnects on the inside and make sure that everything is properly terminated
16. Check out the rest of the terminations on the inside including the two sections of the 200 amp meter banks and disconnects
17. Check on the grounding on the inside making sure everything is properly grounded
18. Drill and add ground rods and water meter ground clamps inside the electric room and run ground wire to each item and bond
Provide emergency lighting and panic hardware. Label service disconnects 1& 2 . ALL WORK IS TO BE DONE ACCORDING TO APPROVED DRAWINGS-2017 NEC.City of Philadelphia · 2024
