Built in 1928, as one of the early houses on Strickland Street, the plan and shape of the house remains as it was built; within the house are the living room, dining, kitchen, back porch area and small bedrooms. The original front porch was enclosed as a year-round living space several decades ago. The windows throughout the house are vinyl-replacement and have deteriorated significantly, they are not energy efficient or water-tight. The roof and wall shingles are at the end of their useful life, many of the shingles blow-off the house during normal Barnegat Bay storms. The existing roof and wall structure will remain.1.The first effort is maintenance work to replace existing windows, wall shingles, and roof shingles because the existing materials have deteriorated significantly, are not water-tight, and are beyond their useful life. The proposed new materials and components will meet the current day material quality and energy efficiency standards. All new windows are in the same location as existing windows.2.The second purpose of the project is to provide 2 dormers in the upper story. The proposed new dormer(s) are located within the zoning regulation setbacks of the property and do not exceed the conforming 1/2 Story Area regulation.
